FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
I can get your bulb at the Dollar Store, why is your cost so high?
Although we do use LED bulbs, our bulbs are coated with our Patent pending formula. An LED itself, cannot purify the air when turned on.
I see a huge issue with Titanium Dioxide, in the news right now. Should I worry?
The formula for our coating does not emit in the air. Please keep unused bulbs away from animals/children/anyone/anything that might have the urge to "lick" the bulb.
I don't have a dimming socket/switch. Most or all of your bulbs are dimmable, what can I do?
Dimmable bulbs work in a non-dimming socket/switch. You won't have any issues.
Does the light be on for the bulb to work?
The light must be on for the bulb to work. The process begins immediately however it can take approximately 45 minutes for its effects to be noticed. The best results come from leaving the bulb on as long as possible.
Can the A19 bulbs be used with a 3 -Way?
No. The A19 bulbs should not be used with a 3 Way socket. 3 way bulbs are available however.
Will an air fan help the photocatalytic action?
The air naturally circulates near and around the bulb. The super-oxygen molecules spread out from the light bulb to a distance of approximately 8 feet. The closer problem areas are to the light the better the photo-catalytic action. A fan is not necessary in order for the photo-catalytic process to work however it certainly will assist the process.
Can the bulbs be used inside lamp shades? Will more bulbs increase the effectiveness of the photo-catalytic process?
Yes. The more bulbs, the greater the photo-catalytic process.
Must the light bulb be in the open air to work?
Putting bulbs in a sealed cover will only be effective for the air inside that cover. They must be open to the air of the room they are in for the photo-catalytic process to have its greatest effect. Lamp shades are okay.
Does Pure-Light use ultraviolet light?
Pure-Light bulbs and technology do not produce, use, or need to use harmful ultraviolet light.
Are LED lights bad for my health?
No. Pure-Light Technologies recommends having a healthy balance of natural sun light and LED Pure-Light for best overall health.
Our Pure-Light LED lights are full spectrum, having red, green, as well as some blue frequencies present.
Our simple quest is to provide the best and healthiest lights we can.
Why do plants grow so well with Pure-Light Technology?
It is primarily because of the extra oxygen that the technology produces along with the discouragement of harmful bacteria and mold. Plants need oxygen to actually grow and survive. This article from the University of California at Santa Barbara helps explain it.
Why do plants need oxygen?
Answer Part 1:
I’ll bet you are wondering that because you already know that plants can make oxygen. You probably already know that in photosynthesis, plants take CO2 from the air, Water (H2O) from their roots, and energy from the sun and make sugar (C6H12O6). What a lot of people don’t realize is that when there’s little or no light, plants do the same thing we do. The break down the sugar to release CO2, water, and energy. This requires oxygen. The reason is pretty complex, but basically, electrons get passed around, and oxygen has to pick them up at the end of the process. If you measured the amount of oxygen and CO2 dissolved in a lake, how do you think the daytime levels would compare to the nighttime levels? Would a plant need oxygen if it were under lights 24 hours a day?
Answer Part 2:
Plants respire, just like we do. When a plant doesn’t have access to light, it burns sugar to make energy, consuming energy. It’s just that plants use sugars to build their bodies as well as an energy storage, so over the course of a plant’s life, as it grows, it makes more sugar than it burns, and so releases more oxygen than it consumes.
Answer Part 3:
Plants need oxygen for the same reason you and I do — without oxygen we can’t convert the carbohydrates, fats, and proteins we eat into energy. We call this process respiration, and the formula for this sort of reaction is like this: sugar + oxygen –> carbon dioxide + water + energy
We breathe in oxygen and eat food, and we exhale carbon dioxide and excrete water.
This exact same reaction goes on in every living cell, including all plant cells. But of course plants don’t have to eat food, because they make their own food using photosynthesis. The formula for photosynthesis is basically this:
carbon dioxide + water + sunlight –> sugar + oxygen
You can see that this is basically the reverse of respiration, but plants convert the energy in sunlight into the chemical bonds of the sugar. When cells respire, they break those bonds and get the energy out of them. Anyway, you can see that photosynthesis produces oxygen as a waste product, so for the most part plants don’t have to breathe in extra oxygen — they can just use the oxygen that they produce during photosynthesis. However, plants only perform photosynthesis in the green parts, like leaves and stems, but all plant cells need oxygen to respire. Cells in the leaves get plenty of oxygen from photosynthesis, but cells in the roots often need to get oxygen from the environment to stay alive. Even though roots are buried, they can absorb oxygen from the small air spaces in soil. This is why it’s possible to ‘drown’ plants by watering them too much.
If the soil is way too wet, the roots are smothered, the roots can’t get any oxygen from the air, and the cells in the roots die. Without those root cells, the rest of the plant dies. Some plants have evolved adaptations to deal with extremely wet soil. Mangroves are trees that live in swampy environments along the coast in the tropics. The roots of mangroves are often entirely under saltwater, so they have special structures called pneumatophores (Greek for “air carrier”) that act like snorkels, sticking up out of the water to get a oxygen for the roots.

Warranty and Returns questions
What is the warranty on the PLT light bulbs?
Pure-Light bulbs are of the highest quality and therefore Pure-Light offers a 5 year warranty on our A19 bulbs, 3-way bulbs, A21, BR30 and T8 bulbs. Our glass Candelabra bulbs have a two year warranty. Though the bulbs are very durable and care taken with each parcel when packaged for shipping, they can break. If the light bulb/s arrive damaged then a full replacement is guaranteed. If the outside of the bulb is damaged due to misuse, then the warranty is void.
If I have a problem with my PLT light bulb what should I do?
Please check out Warranty and Returns Page.
If a bulb does burn out before its time or doesn’t work as it should, then send the problem bulb back to us here at Pure-Light so we can assess the nature of its inoperability. A purchase receipt is not required.
